TMS Family Travel Conference

Does the world really need another travel conference? We think so.

Family travel now accounts for well over 100 million trips a year and is the fastest growing segments of the leisure travel market with hotels, cruise lines, even adventure companies offering an ever-growing array of programs and amenities for families. More than 1.5 million children now cruise each year; baby-boomer grandparents increasingly are part of the equation. Parents and grandparents no longer apologize for bringing a child, even to the toniest hotel. On the contrary, today’s family travelers expect the travel industry to cater to them and their children.

Scores of writers and bloggers are turning their attention to family travel as the travel industry works to please increasingly sophisticated young travelers with everything from junior gourmet menus, cooking and language lessons, to multi-million dollar kids’ and teen clubs.

It all began in February 2012...

when Family Travel Consulting organized the first ever Family Travel Conference in New York City with Joanne Vero, who produces Travel Media Showcase. Sponsors such as Walt Disney World, the Orlando Convention and Visitors Bureau, Norwegian Cruise Line and Omni Hotels & Resorts joined us to connect with 35 A-List writers, bloggers, social media influencers and video producers to share their family travel experiences. The Family Travel Conference Dallas that followed in November 2012 attracted 75 A-List travel and media professionals to Texas.  Repeat sponsors such as Disney Parks & Resorts, Orlando Convention and Visitors Bureau and Omni Hotels & Resorts joined Southwest Airlines, Dallas Zoo, FCUSA and Snowmamas among others to connect with the family market.

Following the success of both conferences, Travel Media Showcase partnered with Eileen Ogintz of and Kyle McCarthy, creator of to produce TMS Family Travel events. In 2013, these included the invitation-only, think tank TMS Family Travel Summit exploring "Better Meeting the Needs of the Family Travel Experience" in Orlando, and the professional enrichment TMS Family Travel Conference in Niagara Falls USA.

The 2nd annual TMS Family Travel Summit on "Multigenerational Family Travel" took place in Phoenix in April, 2014. The 3rd TMS Family Travel Conference was hosted at the Omni La Costa Resort in Carlsbad, California -- each more successful than the last, generating dozens of destination features and millions of social media impressions for sponsors.

We hope you'll join us in Riviera Nayarit, Mexico at the next Summit to discuss "Opportunities in International Family Travel" in April 2015 and at our conference in Kansas City, Missouri in October.
